Greater Baltimore DSA is demanding that Baltimore City Council protect our and our neighbors' privacy and safety by banning ICE profiteers and exploitative, AI-powered surveillance from Baltimore City contracts!

Subject: Protect Our Privacy and Safety

As residents of Baltimore City, we demand that you protect our privacy and safety by banning ICE contractors and collaborators, ALPR cameras and facial surveillance technologies from Baltimore City contracts. 

As ICE has been terrorizing Baltimore City residents in a genocidal campaign against immigrants and people of color, We do not want our tax dollars paying companies supporting and profiting from that terror. That includes surveillance providers who enable that terror as well as stalking and abuse by local law enforcement. 

Surveillance technologies, especially ones powered by AI like ALPR cameras and facial recognition tools, are constantly making mistakes and getting hacked, making all of us unsafe on multiple levels.

We demand that you permanently debar these companies and technologies from Baltimore City contracts by adding them to Baltimore City Code Article 5 Subtitle 41: Prohibited Contracts, as a start in removing them from Baltimore altogether.
