Cherry Hill Health Fair

After a few months of deep canvassing in Cherry Hill, the Health Justice Committee threw a Medicare for All Health Fair at the Medmark Treatment Center. Volunteer doctors were on hand to offer basic health advice, and GBDSA members provided food and music, as well as a Medicare for All information table. Despite some rain, this first fair was a success, and we look forward to holding regular community health events every two or three months.

Labor Day Picnic

We held our first-ever DSA Labor Day picnic at Riverside Park. There was plenty of food, conversation, and solidarity for all humans and dogs attending. We want to plan more socialist social events, so let us know if you can help!

September 10th School Board Hearing

Our comrades in the Baltimore Teachers Union made their voices heard at the district office. A great turnout of teachers and supporters at the September 10th hearing on unannounced formal observations means that, once again, district officials are rescheduling the vote. Make sure to help us keep up the pressure by supporting BTU on the rescheduled hearing date, September 24th.

Baltimore Fair Elections Coalition

The city council heard testimony in support of the Fair Election Fund charter amendment on Tuesday September 17th, and GBDSA-ers came out in support with our Fair Elections Coalition partners. Speakers, including new BTU president Diamonte Brown, described the costs of corporate influence on city government, including the systematic neglect of Black communities.
